Building The Future Of Privacy — Ale

#3 — This is the third post in our “Building The Future Of Privacy” series. In this series, we’ll be joined by Blank employees for a deep dive into the future of privacy. For this post, we’re joined by Ale from the development team! Here’s his outlook on the project and privacy space:

What’s the most exciting thing about building Blank Wallet?

One of the best things about working on Blank Wallet is the chance to contribute to the decentralization of the web. Decentralization allows for a more open and free internet that empowers users instead of big tech. Web 3.0 makes all of this possible and can completely change the way we use the internet for the better. In general, I consider myself lucky to be a part of this process.

It’s also exciting to be advancing privacy on Ethereum — one of the biggest blockchains in the space. I’m a believer in privacy and it feels good to know that I can help so many people with such a serious issue. In addition, being on the Blank Wallet team is a massive opportunity to improve every day in a great working environment. We also all get along really well, which is a big plus.

Why is privacy important when connecting to DApps?

Without a doubt, privacy is crucial when interacting with decentralized applications. The majority of users are not aware of how much information they share when connecting to DApps. Most of these interactions take place on-chain, making your financial data public. This means that anyone can track your activity on the blockchain, which poses a real security risk. Doing something as simple as using an NFT as your profile picture can reveal your financial data to the world. A lot of users don’t want to think about privacy but are forced to. On-chain privacy shouldn’t be a burden, so Blank Wallet makes it simple and accessible.

How will Web 3.0 change the future?

It’s hard to predict exactly how Web 3.0 will impact our world, but it’s fair to say that it can have a major impact in many areas. In general, I believe that it’ll have a positive influence, and not just in the sphere of finance. As time goes on, more and more services are made available on the decentralized web. It’s only a matter of time until the majority of broadly used applications have integrated Web 3.0 in some way. Older technology inevitably gives way to technology that is more beneficial to users. I think we’re only scratching the surface of Web 3.0 with recent innovations like NFTs and blockchain gaming, and I can’t wait to see what comes next!

What kind of Web 3.0 integrations would you like to see for Blank Wallet?

Any DApp that wants to give their users more privacy. Web 3.0 integrations are a great way to drive adoption, and it’s a big part of our strategy going forward. We want to make privacy available for everyone, so we’re making it as simple as possible to integrate Blank Wallet with existing protocols. It’s important that Blank Wallet sees widespread adoption in the future, so I welcome anything that helps with that. Specifically, I would love to see integrations with a major DEX or aggregator. They are major hotspots for DeFi users, so seeing Blank Wallet there would feel like a real achievement.

What are you looking forward to?

I obviously can’t wait for Blank Wallet’s upcoming mainnet release. It will be great to finally see people using the wallet and benefiting from the development team’s hard work. There are still a few steps to complete between now and then, but we’re getting closer and closer. In the short term, I’m looking forward to finishing the codebase, for the mainnet launch and the public repositories. From a feature perspective, there are many things that I’m excited about. Multi-chain support is a big one that has been in the spotlight recently after the explosion of both L1 and L2 solutions. Saving on gas will be a deciding factor that drives adoption, so it’s an important feature. The development team has looked into how easy it would be to get Blank Wallet working with other chains, and we’ve been pleasantly surprised.
